Learn What Actually Works From the Trainers Who Do It Every Day

Being in Jacob’s mentorship program has been invaluable, both in terms of how it’s upskilled my own work with dogs and clients but also my business. I knew that it would be an investment and it’s paid off massively. I had made back the cost of the program in just a couple of months and my business is now making twice as much profit than it ever was before.

I can honestly say this has been a life changing experience working with Jacob. This programme quite literally has everything covered, both with business and dog training. It’s very difficult to describe the level of clarity and confidence I now have both with skillset and delivery to clients, as well as my business acumen which is unrecognisable from just a few months ago. In addition to all of this, I have made back the initial programme cost already, with my increased monthly revenue! Jacob goes above and beyond and I genuinely never thought that I would be in the position I am now.

Joining Jacob’s mentorship was the best decision I made! My dream was to be able to switch my old full time job for dog training - and when I did it, I hit €10K in my first month as a dog trainer. So proud! The advice, support, and strategies were worth every penny. I’m considering joining the next cohort to grow even more!

Doing a mentorship with Jacob was the best decision I’ve ever made. I was super nervous about spending the money, but I took the leap, and wow, I’m glad I did. In just one month, I went from 500 to 31k followers, booked multiple sales calls, built an email list, launched an online program, and finally feel confident as a trainer. It’s crazy to see how far I’ve come, thank you!
Who is this week for?
For experienced trainers looking to deepen their understanding of canine behavior, refine their skills, and elevate their training or business, whether through mastering behavior modification, improving client results, or increasing income.
For passionate dog lovers ready to turn their enthusiasm into a career. This course will guide you through every pivotal decision, helping you build confidence, develop your expertise, and transition seamlessly into professional training.
For dog walkers, home boarders, and pet care specialists who want to elevate their expertise, set themselves apart in their niche, and offer a higher level of service to their clients.
For dedicated owners who want their dog to excel beyond the average pet, develop advanced skills, and strengthen their bond through a deeper understanding of training and behaviour.
If you have a dog that’s reactive, aggressive, anxious, or simply out of control, this week is for you. Bring your dog with you, and we’ll work side-by-side to address the root of the behaviour and start making real progress. You’ll leave with practical tools, a calmer dog, and the confidence to keep moving forward at home. We don’t just talk theory, we fix problems. Check what this owners had to say.
The biggest breakthrough in my career didn’t come from courses or books, it came from learning directly from the best.
Being mentored by world-class trainers gave me the skills, confidence, and clarity I needed to succeed, and it’s exactly what we’re offering during the Dog Trainers’ Development Week.
This is five days of immersive, hands-on training with real dogs, real clients, and real feedback from the YCA team. No recycled theory. No fluff. Just proven systems, expert guest speakers, and a team that trains for real, every day.
If you’re feeling stuck, unsure where to go next, or just hungry to grow, this is the week that changes everything.

Hear It from the Trainers Themselves
"This opened my eyes to how much more there is to learn. From using markers correctly to applying tools humanely, it completely shifted my perspective"
"Watching live sessions taught me practical troubleshooting I’d never get from books. On top of that, I learned to focus my marketing. I’m already streamlining my workflow to get better results in less time”
"We drove down from Plymouth desperate to fix our reactive pup. After positive-only trainers didn’t help, YCA’s honest approach blew us away. By mid-week, we were calmly sipping pints in a pub with five dogs around us, something I never thought possible in such a short time”
This week is for THOSE who refuse to settle for “good enough”, whether you’re just starting out or ready to push the limits of what’s possible in your career.

Daily Schedule
We’ll dive into the root causes of so-called “problem” behaviours in dogs. From building motivation to understanding why traditional obedience training often misses the mark, this session lays the groundwork for meaningful change.
We’ll unpack the common myths and misconceptions around punishment. Learn how to reduce the frequency and intensity of unwanted behaviours without relying on harsh corrections or outdated techniques.
Aggression doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. We’ll explore how it develops, where it stems from, and how to approach it safely and effectively. You’ll gain a clear, practical understanding of how to help dogs move past it.
From ecollars to clickers and everything in between, we’ll cover the full spectrum of modern training tools. You’ll learn how and when to use them, and what role each one plays in ethical, effective training.
It’s time to take everything we’ve covered and apply it outside the training field. We’ll head off-site to tackle real-life situations and show you how to handle challenges as they actually happen - because that’s where it counts.

AJ dives deep into what most trainers overlook: the dog’s life inside the home. From structure to routines, he shows how household habits directly affect behaviour and training results. He also covers the power of structured play and how to use it as a tool for engagement and clarity. AJ is a natural with dogs — watching him play and connect is a lesson in itself.
Simon shares his journey from force-free to balanced training, and how making that shift not only changed how he trains, but transformed his life and business. His story is inspiring, relatable, and packed with real lessons on mindset, growth, and how to build a training business that actually works. One of the most engaging talks of the week.
Brad is a PSA instructor, certified decoy, and elite trainer with a deep understanding of drive and aggression. In this talk, he breaks down how aggression is built — not to encourage it, but to help you understand how to prevent, redirect, and resolve it. A powerful, eye-opening session that gives context you won’t find anywhere else.
Kirky is not only part of the YCA team, he’s also one of the most experienced e-collar trainers around. In his session, he breaks down how to use the tool clearly, ethically, and effectively. No fear-mongering, just real-world knowledge and why e-collars give dogs more freedom, not less. If you’re on the fence about e-collars or want to level up your use of them, this is a must-watch.

Learn by Solving Real Problems
You’ll learn how to assess, plan, and train right there on the spot, just like we do every day at YCA.You won’t just hear about what works. You’ll see it. Practice it. And do it yourself.
Spent a week with Jacob and the team on a Development Week and learned so much, saw great changes in behaviour in the working dogs and have a renewed motivation to work with my own dogs and possibly start helping others locally. The team have so much experience and knowledge, which shines through especially in the behaviour of their own dogs.

A big thank you to Jacob and the YCA team for offering me the chance to join them on the Development Week. I enjoyed seeing and learning their methods plenty of practical demonstrations with his own and other people and their dogs . Jacob made it easy to understand (even for someone with learning difficulties) he was easily approachable and willing to answer any questions thrown at him. I wish i could have made it for the last 2 days but i broke down and couldn't make it. All the best for the future
Ps hope you've got the coffee machine fixed

The mentorship at the YCA with Jacob and the team is a great opportunity for anyone looking to further their understanding of dog behaviour, no matter where you are in your dog training journey. As only a dog owner myself, I was worried a lot of the content would go straight over my head. However, the way the days were structured, combining clearly explained theory with hands on sessions, allowed me to see and understand how simple concepts can be applied to different problem behaviours in all types of dogs. The in person support from Jacob and the team left me feeling inspired, giving me the boost I needed to take training my own dog to the next level!

I spent the week with Jacob learning the ins & outs of dog training. It was a week packed with lots of detail and lots of practical which for me is 100 x better than just theory.I would recommend this to anyone looking to get into the dog world as not only would it help someone wanting to work with dogs but also just educate owners about there own dogs. Great week thanks Jacob.

Attending the mentorship was an amazing experience. The team at the YCA are hugely welcoming and are always ready to share their knowledge. I came away with so much more experience that I could apply to my own work and pass onto my clients. Outside of their dog training expertise, every member of the team is incredibly friendly and it all makes for an opportunity to learn about training and business in a fun, exciting, and non-judgemental environment.

The mentorship week with Jacob at the YCA was an amazing experience for me as a new dog trainer that has recently started their own business. It was a great opportunity to learn from somebody so knowledgeable and experienced to further my understanding in not only dog training but how to deliver and grow a dog training business.Although there is lots you can learn online, it does not compare to witnessing the process in person and having the opportunity to be hands on and interactive.Jacob was extremely open with not only his dog training methods and experiences but also with how he managed to grow such a successful business around it too. After this week with Jacob at the YCA, I feel that I am in such a different place with my own business and feel ready and far more confident to grow. The experience was worth many times what I paid for it and I will be jumping at any opportunities that come along again at the YCA.Thank you!

I attended the YCA’s development week & loved every minute of it. The guys there have a serious passion for training & trying to get the best out of every dog. One of the main things I picked up from my time at the YCA is that every single member of staff had a great attitude, all extremely welcoming & friendly. (I will also mention that it was my birthday during the development week & the staff got me a cake) 😂👏Highly recommend the YCA, extremely knowledgeable bunch who are doing great things there. 🐕

Absolutely loved every minute of the YCA development week. Packed with so much information and really transparent. The seminar's Q&A’s and practical demonstrations leave no stones unturned, you will walk away with a much clearer understanding of your dog, what you should be doing and how you should be doing it to have a happy fulfilled dog and relationship. I know I certainly did! The whys, the hows, past experiences and what they do now, Jacob, the YCA team and guest speakers are all happy to share. Genuinely nice and welcoming throughout the whole week. Highly recommend
